# VWAP (/platform/charts/order-flow/vwap)

**Volume Weighted Average Price** (VWAP Bands) plots the average price paid over the anchored window, weighted by volume (the fair-value line institutions benchmark against), with up to three standard-deviation band pairs around it.

It uses candle price and volume, so it works on **every** market, including forex and commodities. Add it from **Indicators → Orderflow**.

## Settings [#settings]

* **Anchor**: where the average restarts, in UTC periods: **Day** (default), **Week**, or **Month**. An anchored VWAP only means something relative to its window: day-anchored for intraday fair value, week/month for swing context.
* **Source**: the per-bar price the average weights: **HLC3** (default), **OHLC4**, or **Close**.
* **Bands 1–3**: each band pair plots at ±(multiplier × σ) around the VWAP, where σ is the volume-weighted standard deviation over the same window. Defaults: Band 1 on at 1σ, Band 2 on at 2σ, Band 3 off at 3σ; each multiplier is adjustable (0.1–10). Bands share one color with a soft fill.

## Reading it [#reading-it]

Price above VWAP means the average participant in the window is in profit on longs; extended moves toward the outer bands mark statistically stretched prices for that session. The bands are recomputed from the anchor, so a fresh day's bands start tight and widen as the session accumulates data.
