# Bring Your Setup (/platform/workspaces/bring-your-setup)

Bring the parts of your existing setup into [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart) using files you export from TradingView, a screenshot of your layout, or code you can copy. You can keep using both platforms while you check the result.

## Start your move [#start-your-move]

Open [Switch to Vela](https://www.luxalgo.com/switch/) and choose **Start your move**. Sign in to open **Bring your setup to Vela**. The checklist has separate steps for watchlists, scripts, trades, and charts. Drop your files together to sort them into the matching steps, or work through one step at a time.

You can skip a step or choose **Finish later**. Resume from **Account**, then **Import**. Importing a layout is also available from **Import layout** in the workspace menu.

## Watchlists [#watchlists]

You can start this step directly from the Watchlist panel: select the list name in its header, then **Import lists**. See [Import watchlists](/platform/workspaces/watchlist#import-watchlists) for the full review and import steps.

In TradingView, open a watchlist, choose **Advanced view**, then **Download list as TXT**. Bring the file into the watchlists step. You can import up to 20 lists at once, or paste symbols if your TradingView plan does not offer a download. A TradingView screener's **Export screen results** CSV can also become a watchlist; only its symbols are imported.

Vela keeps the list's sections and order and matches each symbol to an available market. Review the result: symbols that Vela cannot chart are listed instead of being silently substituted. Your plan's watchlist and market limits still apply.

See [Watchlist](/platform/workspaces/watchlist) for managing the imported lists.

## Chart layouts [#chart-layouts]

Choose either of these inputs in **Bring your layout**:

* **A screenshot:** show the whole layout with every chart's symbol, timeframe, and indicator labels visible.
* **Chart-data files:** in TradingView, open the menu next to the layout name and choose **Download chart data…**, once for each chart. Bring the files together to rebuild a multi-chart layout.

Vela reads the screenshot's labels or the files' names and header rows. It uses Vela's own market data; it does not import the historical prices in a chart-data file. The screenshot reader does not keep your image.

Review each chart's market, timeframe, and matched indicators before opening the result. A screenshot can be misread, especially when labels are small or cut off. If the image cannot be read, try a clearer one or use chart-data files.

Choose **Open the layout on Vela** or **Open with built-ins only** to use the indicators Vela matched. Where an indicator is missing, you can ask Quant, our coding agent, to look for it in the Library, or choose **Paste its code** for that chart if you have its Pine Script® source. Review any code changes before relying on the result.

A layout can contain up to **16 charts**. Files that do not match a supported market or exceed the layout limit are reported. Check the resulting grid and each chart before replacing a setup you want to keep.

<Note>
 A rebuilt layout is not an exact copy of the original. Drawings, indicator settings, and chart colors do not come across from chart-data exports. Check the appearance and inputs yourself after importing.
</Note>

## Pine Script® code [#pine-script-code]

Copy code you can access from TradingView's Pine Editor, then paste it into the scripts step or **Bring a script**. PineTS, our open-source Pine Script® runtime, runs it on Vela. If it needs changes to run, Quant can help adapt it; read the changes and check the chart and backtest.

Protected and invite-only scripts cannot be copied without their authors' source. Keep the license and author credit on open-source code. See [Pine editor](/platform/charts/pine-editor) for editing and running your own scripts.

## Trade history [#trade-history]

Export your paper trading history using **Download data** in TradingView's Trading panel, then add it to the trades step. Portfolio transaction exports can also be imported into the [Journal](/platform/workspaces/journal). Review the imported account and trades there.

A Strategy Tester trade list is a backtest export, not your account's trade history. Use the matching comparison flow when checking a strategy against a TradingView backtest.

## Check what moved [#check-what-moved]

Review the result shown for each step before finishing. Drawings, notes, and your active TradingView alerts list do not transfer. Imported files do not connect Vela to your TradingView account or change that account.
