Alerts
Follow prices, indicators and strategies with alerts in Vela, and choose where notifications are delivered.
Vela has two kinds of alert: Price Alerts watch price conditions, and Custom Alerts watch indicator or strategy conditions. Open Alerts from the chart's right-hand panel rail to create an alert, manage existing ones, or review what fired.
Alerts run on our servers, so you can close the chart after creating them. Delivery still depends on the market data and the destination you choose.
Choose an alert
| Kind | Use it for | Allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Price Alerts | Price crossing a level, entering or leaving a channel, moving by an amount, or meeting a supported drawing condition. | Unlimited on every plan, including Free. |
| Custom Alerts | Conditions from an indicator or strategy, set up on the chart or with Quant, our coding agent. | Active alerts and markets per alert depend on your plan. |

Plan allowances
| Feature | Free | Essential | Premium | Ultimate | AI Ultra |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price Alerts | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Active Custom Alerts | 5 | 50 | 100 | 200 | 500 |
| Markets per Custom Alert | 10 | 100 | 250 | 500 | 1,000 |
| Custom Alerts while a bar is forming | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Webhook automation | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
On Free, Custom Alerts evaluate on closed bars: choose Once per bar close or Only once. Essential and above also allow Once per bar, Once per minute, and Every time. The closed-bar restriction applies to Custom Alerts; Price Alerts have their own frequency choices on every plan.
A paused Custom Alert does not count toward your active-alert allowance. If you reach the limit, pause an active alert before turning on another, or choose a plan with a higher allowance. See Plans.
Manage alerts
The chart's Alerts panel separates Active, Triggered, Paused, and Log. Search for an alert by name, then use its actions to Edit, Pause, Turn on, view History, or Delete it. Deleting an alert stops it and cannot be undone.
- Arming means the alert is starting on our servers. Live means the servers have confirmed it.
- Triggered includes alerts that fired for the last time. Expired alerts also appear in this tab.
- Over plan limit means the alert does not fit your current allowance.
- Needs attention means the alert has an error to review.
- Feed delayed means the market data is arriving late. Review the alert's log and delivery status before relying on it.
The Log keeps events for 90 days. Open an event to see Why did this fire? and the delivery result for each destination. An alert firing and a notification reaching its destination are separate events.
If your plan changes
Cancelling renewal keeps your current plan until the end of the paid period. When a lower plan takes effect, Custom Alerts that exceed the active-alert or market allowance are suspended. Among alerts that fit the market allowance, the oldest remain active up to the new limit. Alerts suspended for a plan limit can resume when they fit again; alerts you paused yourself stay paused.
Price Alerts remain unlimited on Free. Webhook delivery requires Essential or above, and Free Custom Alerts use closed bars. Review your alerts, their frequencies and their destinations after a downgrade or subscription pause. See Billing.
Moving from Screener alerts
Strategy Screener and its existing alerts retire on November 14, 2026. New Screener alerts are no longer available. Use Price Alerts or Custom Alerts in Vela for new alerts. See Screener alerts and retirement.
Delivery limits
Alerts and notifications are for informational use. Market data delays, downtime and destination failures can delay or prevent delivery. Webhooks do not guarantee that an order is received or executed by a third-party service. Read our disclaimer.
